Partners in Crime

Last weekend, my husband and I had a night away looking after our darling grand daughter. Our daughter 'babysat' Ben for us at our house and brought along her little dog Indy who is Ben's best friend. Now, this is not the first time these two 'partners in crime' have got themselves in trouble but I have to say I was not one bit happy when I saw what they had been into this time and I think when I show you you will understand why!!

Now you wouldn't think these two innocent looking faces could have any part in such a crime now .......... would you?? I really rather liked my needleroll!!

A New Finish

I have finished this little Springtime Needle case and Scissor Holder from Lynette Anderson Designs
I really enjoyed stitching this and of course it having a Labrador on the front makes it all the more special. I made a few changes here and there to personalise it. I changed the colour of the cat from black to grey (my little Primrose cat was a silver tabby so grey seemed more appropriate) and added some buttons to the inside as well. I also tea-dyed the fabric that the stitchery is on to give it a more aged look. My pink scissors go just perfectly with this I think.

A Little Bird

This year my friend Sandra and I have decided we are going to stitch an ornament each month. This month it was this little Christmas Cardinal by La D Da from the Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments 2006 edition. I have to admit I had reservations about whether I really liked him as I was stitching him but now he is finished I think he is really rather sweet although not very Christmasy.

Faithful Friends

A place I love to visit is a Bulletin Board specifically about Labradors called 'Just Labradors'. This morning I came across this wonderful quote which is so true and I just love it.

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever — in case I need him. And I expect I will — as I always have. He is just my dog".

Tins

Another thing I really like are tins. I am always looking out for interesting tins. We don't seem to see the lovely Whitman's Sampler tins or the Altoid tins that the US girls find over there but occasionally there is a nice little tin to be found. I found these cute little heart shaped tins that were available for Valentines Day.
Of course they have yummy Lindt chocolate inside but I really had to have them just for the tin........yes, really!!

This is fun........

Well after a few more hours of trying to find my way around , I have finally managed to add a link to my Picasa Album. I must say I became very frustrated in the process but it feels good to finally figure it out. I am sure it must get easier in the end. Well that is what I am telling myself anyway.
I stitched on my Springtime Needlecase today and am almost finished the stitchery part of it and then I look forward to the putting together part. It is a Lynette Anderson Design and is very sweet. I was drawn to it by the dog on the front which is of course a Labrador. I was planning to work on my cross stitch this evening but the time has been taken up with working on my blog instead. I am stitching a beautiful chart by Carriage House Sampling called Strawberry Blonde. I just love it. I still need to learn how to do a clickable link so you can see a picture. Maybe next time.

A Learning Curve

Well, I have spent hours trying trying to find my way around attempting to make my blog look interesting but as you can see with little success as yet. Oh well, these things take time and practise. Let's see if I can post a picture. .......

Well, there you are, I did it!! Introducing Ben, the Shadow part of Me and My Shadow. Ben is my beautiful, gorgeous Labrador. Never far from my side and my self appointed 'minder'. I just love him to bits.
Here he is modelling a cushion I stitched. It is from a La D Da chart called 'Now I Lay Me'. La D Da are one of my favourite designers and I think Ben makes a perfect model for this one.

Oh my goodness......My first blog entry!!!

I am amazed I have got this far!! I am a bit of a technophobe when it comes to this sort of thing so I have quite surprised myself that I actually have got this far. I just hope I can remember now how I actually got here so I can come back and post about this and that as it happens.
